Nobody Wants This creator is pushing back on Adam Brody’s comments about Israel and Palestine, making clear that the two disagree on the issue. She says she still loves her star while standing by her own perspective on the debate.
Erin Foster responds to Adam Brody and the Israel-Palestine debate
Erin Foster addressed Adam Brody’s recent comments in an interview with GQ, where the actor called for a “free Palestine” and described Israel’s actions as “genocide.” Brody further said the death and suffering had reached a breaking point and expressed hope that a future U.S. administration could “really do some good“ and change policies contributing to the situation. He also explained that he generally answers political questions when interviewers raise them, saying, “I just answer the questions I’m asked.”
Speaking to host Amanda Hirsch, Erin Foster acknowledged the sensitive nature of the disagreement and compared the show’s workplace to family dinner tables, where people can debate difficult subjects without sharing the same perspective (via EW).
“While I love Adam, I also disagree with him,” Foster said, making clear that their difference of opinion does not cancel out her affection for him. For Foster, the conversation is also personal. She converted to Judaism before marrying music executive Simon Tikhman, and that experience helped inspire Nobody Wants This. She described the series as a “love letter to Judaism,” explaining that she wanted Jewish fans to feel recognized and understood.
Foster said she created the show because becoming Jewish had been a “beautiful” experience for her. With positive portrayals of Jewish people scarce in the current climate, she believes the series serves an important purpose. “I think it’s so important to have that,” Forster explained.
That mission does not mean Foster expects everyone involved to share her views. She emphasized that people can hold “different opinions” and said she can explain the intentions behind her work without demanding agreement from others. “I can just tell you what I created this show for, what the intention of the show is.”
