Having played a key role in Arsenal’s Premier League triumph last season, Kai Havertz is relishing life at the Emirates and is eager to help the club sustain the success. The German forward told TOI in an interaction facilitated by JioStar, that the familiarity within the squad will stand them in good stead as they look to defend their crown. ‘I try to be like a ghost to defenders,’ you recently said. Can you tell us about your transition between a deep-lying midfielder role and leading the line as central striker?I played as a striker a bit in Germany and at Chelsea as well. So, I knew the position. I like playing that position, and definitely, my movement is more related to the box now, being closer to the goal and helping the team with assists and goals. That’s what I try to do.What did it mean to be part of the Arsenal team that finally brought Premier league trophy back to the Emirates? It was an amazing feeling, something that everyone was looking forward to and waiting for. To be the team that turned it around after all these years is definitely something special.Your move from Chelsea to Arsenal raised eyebrows..Arsenal is my home. I feel amazing here. I am very thankful to the club for everything they’ve done for me over the last couple of years and for the opportunity. It was obviously a big move for me, but I’m just so happy here.(Tune-in: Watch Arsenal vs Everton in the Premier League on Oct 24, 7:30 PM, LIVE & Exclusive on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network.)
