The year was 2014 and Google gave us an app that would pay us for just filling out the simplest of surveys. Some would be a single question, while others could be multiple, but the idea was that by having the app at the ready, you could make money. For some, that has turned into thousands of dollars over the years.
I’m talking about Google Opinion Rewards, and yes, it’s still around and I make money from it almost every day. Crazy to think that it has been around for this long, right? How has Google not sent this to the Google Graveyard?
Google Opinion Rewards pays you for simple surveys
For those new to Google Opinion Rewards, this is an app that you install on your Android phone and then sign into with your Google Account. Once logged-in, it’ll start to send you surveys. If you give the app location access, you will most definitely see more, as it’ll ask you to answer questions about locations you’ve visited, businesses or restaurants you have stopped at, etc.
You will get a notification when you have surveys available and most have time limits (like several days) you’ll need to complete them within. But again, most surveys are either a single question or they may top out at 4-5 questions. I rarely see them much longer than that.
Most of the surveys will get you $0.20 or $0.30, but if they have multiple questions, I’ve seen them hit over $1.00 before. In the screenshot below (on the right), you can see that I recently received one for $0.90.

As the money rolls in, it accumulates in your Google Play balance, so you can use it on movies, apps, games, etc. If you ever rent movies through Google’s apps or pay for subscriptions or buy things on Google Play, this is a pretty great way to fund it.
In the past, we have asked readers how much money they have made from Google Opinion Rewards and it’s always fascinating to see the big amounts. For example, my dad sent me his earnings (on the left) and he’s almost at $1,000 earned over the years.
And that’s really the story of it. Is it tracking you? Yeah, it’s Google – of course it’s tracking you. This is literally how Google has made its billions. So, you have to be comfortable with that fact, which after looking at the Google Play listing, it sure seems like most of you are. This app has over 100M downloads and a rating of 4.5 stars.
