The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced its 2026 NEW WAVE: Creatives, recognising 50 young talents contributing to the global fashion industry. The annual initiative brings attention to emerging creative professionals whose work influences fashion imagery, production, beauty and cultural conversations. The BFC will honour this year’s selected creatives during The Fashion Awards 2026, taking place on Monday, November 30, at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The 2026 selection represents a wide range of creative disciplines, reflecting the many individuals who contribute to fashion beyond design. This year’s edition introduces beauty commentators and show producers to the programme, extending its reach across the industry. The list also includes casting directors, photographers, art directors, hairstylists, makeup artists, image makers, nail artists, set designers, stylists and cultural commentators.
Through NEW WAVE: Creatives, the BFC aims to connect emerging professionals with new opportunities while increasing awareness of their work. The initiative serves as an industry resource for creative directors, brands, publications and teams seeking collaborators with distinct perspectives and approaches.
The accompanying digital platform allows visitors to explore individual profiles and filter creatives according to discipline, country and year. This searchable format helps industry professionals identify talent, develop creative teams and discover individuals contributing to contemporary fashion culture. As the programme continues, the platform provides an expanding directory of creative professionals across different fields.
Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, emphasised the importance of supporting emerging voices and recognising the individuals whose contributions often take place behind the scenes.
“Fashion moves forward when new voices and perspectives are heard and given room to grow,” Weir said. She also recognised the range of disciplines represented within NEW WAVE: Creatives and their collective contribution to fashion’s cultural influence.
The selection process began with nominations from the previous year’s NEW WAVE: Creatives cohort. This approach invited former recipients to recognise their peers and contribute directly to the programme’s development. An industry panel subsequently reviewed the nominations and determined the final 50 creatives for 2026.
The panel brought together established figures from fashion, photography, editorial, beauty and design. Participants included photographers and filmmakers Aidan Zamiri, Jordan Hemingway and Sharna Osborne, alongside hairstylist Ali Pirzadeh and casting director Ben Grimes.
Fashion editors and creative directors also contributed to the selection, including Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Ib Kamara, Isabella Burley, Jacob K, Tati Cotliar and Steff Yotka, Editor-in-Chief of i-D Magazine. Additional panel members included Hanan Besovic, known as IDeserveCouture, and choreographer Patricia Zhou.
Designers Simone Rocha and Tolu Coker joined Gursi Singh and Amrita Khanna, the design duo behind Lovebirds. Paul White, Creative Director of Escentric Molecules, completed the panel.
The selected creatives will receive recognition during The Fashion Awards 2026, an annual event that serves as the world’s largest fashion fundraiser and an international platform for British fashion.
By incorporating NEW WAVE: Creatives into the ceremony, the BFC places emerging creative professionals alongside the wider fashion community. The initiative continues to document the people developing fashion’s visual language, cultural conversations and creative production, while offering the industry a direct way to discover and connect with new talent.
