The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced Tuesday that former English Premier League referee Anthony Taylor has been appointed chairman of its Central Referees’ Committee (MHK), becoming the first foreign national to hold the position.
The federation said its executive board approved Taylor’s appointment after assessing vacancies on the committee.
Taylor, who serves as the federation’s director of elite referees, will be joined by newly appointed committee members Alan Snoddy, Igor Radojcic and Baris Simsek.
The 47-year-old Englishman joined the TFF in August after retiring from professional refereeing following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The federation announced earlier this month that it was making Super Lig referee appointments based on Taylor’s technical assessments.
Taylor officiated major international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Championship, and the UEFA Champions League.
He also refereed the 2023 UEFA Europa League final and the FIFA Club World Cup final.
