Amanda Seyfried has recently found herself back in the spotlight. The actress is making headlines amid renewed interest in convicted entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes. Seyfried previously portrayed the Theranos founder in Hulu’s The Dropout. Now, her awkward interview about a new documentary on Holmes has caught fans’ attention.
Amanda Seyfried recently attended the Academy Museum’s sixth annual gala. The event came days after Nathan Fielder’s documentary, You Can See Everything, received a wide release. The documentary explores Holmes’ final days with her family before her 2023 incarceration.
Seyfried, who played Holmes in Hulu’s The Dropout, reportedly avoided discussing the documentary. During one conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, she was asked whether she was struggling with interviews.
She said, “It’s interesting, yeah, it’s interesting. But, for a good reason. I don’t know, I think everything that’s happening is meant to happen [and] everything, everyone that’s in your life is meant to be in your life.”
She said, “That’s just, kind of and I’m here tonight. I’m meant to be here, and I get to go home tomorrow and I’m meant to be home and so on and so forth.” The actress was also asked whether her “interesting” life had made regular conversations difficult. Seyfried admitted, “Only of late.”
When asked what she preferred discussing, the actress said, “I like to talk about the emus. I like to talk about Halloween. And you can engage with me if you want to talk about all things having to do with apple pie and olives and really good hard ciders.”
Her answers seemed to have confused fans across social media. However, Seyfried also noticed how strange things sounded. She commented beneath the Instagram post, writing, “What AM I even saying.”
That wasn’t her only awkward interview that evening. During another conversation with Variety, Seyfried immediately warned the reporter. “Don’t ask me anything! Do not ask me anything.” The reporter cheekily responded, “About what?” Seyfried then added, “I got nothing to say.”
The actress reportedly has a major role in You Can See Everything, which may explain her recent interviews (via Entertainment Weekly). However, she hasn’t spoken publicly about her involvement. The documentary is now playing in theaters.
