One of my favorite sitcoms of the last few years has been Abbott Elementary. I’ve been loving season 6, and it made me realize that this little series, once a small show about kids and teachers in the Philadelphia school district, has become a mega hit with so many amazing guest stars.
As someone who has watched every season, here are some of the guest stars I’ve loved and hope to see more of.

Ayo Edebiri
As The Bear started getting super popular on Hulu and Ayo Edebiri began to take over the world, she made a brief guest appearance on Abbott Elementary as Ayesha Teagues, Janine’s (Quinta Brunson) sister. She appeared in the season 2 episode “Valentine’s Day,” where she had a FaceTime call, and then had a full appearance in “Teacher Appreciation.”
Seeing her with Brunson makes me so happy, and I really wish I could see more of them together. I need another episode of these two sisters.

Questlove
AvaFest in Abbott Elementary is always a wild time, and in season 3’s “2 Ava 2 Fest,” we got another major guest appearance: Questlove.
Throughout the episode, Ava (Janelle James) says Questlove is going to show up to DJ her special party at the school, but everyone thinks she’s making it up (as Ava does). But Questlove surprises everyone and shows up to DJ the whole thing at the end, proving them all wrong. And honestly, it creates some fun tunes while doing it.
Taraji P. Henson
While Taraji P. Henson has had a couple of appearances in Abbott Elementary, I think one of her biggest was her first appearance in the season 2 episode “Mom.”
She plays Vanessa Teagues, Janine’s estranged mother, whom Janine tries to. Still, she eventually has to accept who her mother is. Every time they’re together on screen, I know I’m in for a world of hurt because their episodes are always heavy. But each time, she has rocked it.
The It’s Always Sunny cast
I don’t think anything will quite beat the crossover that was the season 4 episode “Volunteers,” with the main cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the iconic FX comedy that’s been running for God knows how long. We had a feeling this crossover could work, and it really, really did.
It was the complete opposite of Abbott Elementary’s usual mood, but that’s what made it so funny to watch. It’s even better when you watch the other side of the crossover, “The Gang F’s Up Abbott Elementary,” on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, because I was crying and laughing.

KEEGAN-MICHAEL KEY | Disney
Keegan-Michael Key
I’ve been a huge fan of Keegan-Michael Key for years, so seeing him in Abbott Elementary was a real delight. He first appeared in the season 2 episode, “Panel,” playing Superintendent John Reynolds, and has since had a recurring role throughout the season.
But it all began as a celebrity appearance, and he rocked it in a way I’m sure no one else could. Who else could play a superintendent who seems so irresponsible at his job but somehow keeps it together so well? Only him, truly.
Jalen Hurts (and the Eagles)
I may not have grown up in Pennsylvania, but I’ve fully embraced the culture on this side, and let me tell you: Eagles’ mania is everywhere. I’ve even become an Eagles fan by now. So when I saw some of the biggest names on the Eagles team appear in the season 3 premiere, I almost screamed.
Granted, it was on a Zoom call, and they weren’t actually there in the room. Still, seeing quarterback Jalen Hurts, former center Jason Kelce, and former defensive end Brandon Graham (the latter two have since retired) legit made my day. DeVonta Smith also had a small appearance in the season 5 finale, but I still can’t get over these three. I need Saquon Barkley to appear next.

QUINTA BRUNSON, KYLE SCHWARBER | Disney
Kyle Schwarber
As any Abbott Elementary fan can tell, sports are a huge part of Philadelphia culture. So, of course, I have to put Phillies player Kyle Schwarber as my last celebrity guest pick here.
Even if the Phillies have essentially spiraled this last season, nothing beats seeing Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) freak out over a baseball player in season 5, episode 3, “Ballgame.” I mean, who wouldn’t? The Phillie Phanatic’s appearance at the very end also made this one of the best episodes, and one I will always remember. Season 5 had some hilarious episodes.
You can watch new episodes of Abbott Elementary on ABC every Wednesday.
