Donald Trump Makes Bold Claim About Bill Maher After 2nd White House Dinner

Bill Maher Elicits Strong Reaction With Mitch McConnell Joke on 'Real Time'

President Donald Trump made a bold claim about Bill Maher after their second dinner at the White House.

On Friday, October 17, the POTUS, 80, spoke with reporters about his meal with the Real Time With Bill Maher host, 70. The get-together also included Kid Rock, 55, and Stephen A. Smith, 59, on Thursday, October 18.

“It was a great dinner. It was a very informative dinner,” Trump said. “Smart people. Stephen A. is great. Bill Maher, I tell you what, he likes me a lot more than people understand. And I actually like him. It was a good dinner.”

The president continued, “We talked about everything. It lasted a long time. And, you know, even though they have to sort of put on a certain little facade for their people, they like Trump, and I actually like them.”

Additionally, the group took a tour of the ballroom that’s under construction at the White House.

Maher first had dinner with Trump in March 2025. However, things soon soured between them publicly, as the POTUS declared on Truth Social, “It was a total waste of time for me to have this jerk at the White House.”

In May, Trump called Maher a “weak and ineffective person” on Truth Social. He also described the stand-up comedian as “nervous” and “scared,” before revealing the first thing Maher reportedly said to him.

“The first words he uttered as he entered the Oval Office were, ‘Can I have a drink?'” Trump wrote. “It was very endearing but, at the same time, absolutely pathetic.”

Although Maher hasn’t yet publicly commented on his second White House dinner with Trump, Kid Rock raved about the meeting during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

“It was epic,” the “All Summer Long” singer said. “And the thing that was the greatest, there’s so many points, I could do an hour on it, is that, you know, two Democrats, two Republicans sit down, break bread, have laughs, talk about, have tough conversations on a lot of the issues.”

No new episode of Real Time With Bill Maher aired on Friday, October 16, due to a one-week hiatus. However, viewers will likely hear from the late-night host himself about the White House dinner on the Friday, October 23 episode.
