Everton vs. Chelsea, Premier League: Confirmed lineups; how to watch

It’s bright and it’s early and it’s a Saturday. And it’s Chelsea. And it’s Everton. And it’s Merseyside. And it’s live!

The Premier League weekend begins with a top-six clash of fifth versus sixth, as the league’s meanest defense go up against the league’s second best attack (and one of the league’s worst attacks go up against the league’s worst defense). So we’ll either get a 0-0 or a 5-5. We do also love a 4-3.

Xabi Alonso makes one change from last weekend, with Jorrel Hato starting ahead of Pep Chavarría, who’s not even in the matchday squad (so perhaps dealing with an injury).

Everton starting XI:
Pickford | Maitland-Niles, Tarkowski (c), Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Garner, Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, Röhl, Grealish, Barry

Substitutes from: Travers, O’Brien, George, Dibling, Nørgaard, Johnson, Alcaraz, Hackney, Graham

Chelsea starting lineup (3-4-2-1):
Martínez | Colwill, Lacroix, Acheampong | Hato, Henderson, Caicedo (c), Neto | Rogers, Palmer | João Pedro

Substitutes from: Penders, Fofana, Palestra, Barco, Lavia, Nicoll-Jazuli, Estêvão, Quenda, Welbeck

Date / Time: Saturday, October 17, 2026, 12.30 BST; 7:30am EDT; 5pm IST
Venue: Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool
Forecast: Sunny with a gentle breeze on the water
