Texture has always been part of fashion’s vocabulary, but this season, it took on a life of its own, sculpting silhouettes and setting the mood of entire collections. At Ashi Studio, it lent the designs a gothic, almost theatrical aura, while at Balenciaga, feathers created sculptural volumes that redefined the outline of the body. Dior took a softer approach, using texture to introduce delicacy, whimsy and new dimensions to the silhouette. At Manish Malhotra, it became a showcase of craftsmanship, bringing together multiple techniques to demonstrate the possibilities of making texture the main event.
Hue’s next?
In this part of the world, colour is always welcome, and more is often more. When celebrating art, why stop at one shade when an entire palette is at your disposal? Elie Saab leaned into gold and ruby tones, lending his creations a regal, almost royal splendour. Iris van Herpen explored a spectrum of blues, greys, reds and nudes, while Robert Wun demonstrated the power of colour to transform a pared-back black look, using vivid accents to shift its entire mood. At Balenciaga, neon took centre stage, proving that even in couture, colour can push beyond the expected. From opulent jewel tones to electric brights, each collection made a case for colour as a statement in its own right.
