City remain confident the club can clear its name after CEO Ferran Soriano spoke with other major European clubs on Monday, when he told them ”it’s going to take a lot more time.”
”The Premier League previously recommended that a 12-point penalty be imposed upon Everton back in November 2023 for a single breach of the league’s profit and sustainability rules.
“The panel ultimately decided on a 10-point penalty, which was reduced to six on appeal, but that breach in relation to Manchester City illustrates the magnitude of any potential punishment.
”A transfer ban and a significant fine are other penalties which may be imposed on the club, while the Premier League could seek to expel them from the top-flight altogether.”
Howe to Palace or Fulham not likely
Eddie Howe’s prospects of taking over a struggling Premier League club are slim as The Telegraph ponders the former Newcastle United manager’s next job.
Howe would be unlikely to take charge of Crystal Palace or Fulham, while he would not want to join an underachieving big club either.
”When you have those achievements on your CV you are not going to be interested in taking over a club battling relegation. You are not going to be tempted by an offer from a club who do not have the budget to compete for silverware.
”That is bad news for clubs such as Crystal Palace and Fulham in the lower/mid-table reaches of the Premier League. They are not going to be able to persuade Howe to end his break prematurely no matter how nicely they ask or how much money they offer.
”Could a move abroad be of interest? Possibly, but again, the same parameters would apply and it is very doubtful Howe would want to inflict that sort of upheaval on his young family at this stage of their lives.”

Asencio rejected Chelsea in summer
Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio turned down the opportunity to work with Xabi Alonso again at Chelsea over the summer, The Sun reports.
The 23-year-old was for sale during the summer but ended up staying at the Bernabeu.
”He wanted to compete for his place in the starting line-up – and now that chance has arrived.
”With Dean Huijsen having been sent off in the Madrid derby and Ibrahima Konate‘s injury status currently unknown, Asencio could be set for his first appearance of the campaign against Villarreal next month.
”If the defender had chosen to join Chelsea, he would have reunited with former Real Madrid boss Alonso.”
