Ledger Calls for Crypto Wallet Sales Halt Across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong

Ledger has called on retailers across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to halt sales of its crypto wallets amid an ongoing tampering investigation.

The company identified Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam as the affected Southeast Asian markets and instructed resellers to remove the devices from shelves.

The move follows reports of cryptocurrency thefts linked to tampered Ledger devices purchased through Malaysian reseller CryptoBilis.

Ledger previously confirmed finding an unauthorised hardware implant in one affected device.

Investigators have yet to determine who was responsible or where in the distribution chain the interference occurred.

Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery estimated that US$102 million had been stolen from 324 cryptocurrency wallets, up from an earlier US$86 million after researchers identified additional suspicious transactions.

Ledger has not independently confirmed the losses.

The company maintained that all confirmed incidents remain limited to Southeast Asia, with no verified thefts linked to devices purchased elsewhere.

It also reported no indication that its infrastructure, systems, services or direct sales channel had been compromised.

Ledger’s security research team, Ledger Donjon, will examine devices submitted for analysis.

Customers seeking assistance can contact the company through its official support channel at support.ledger.com.

Ledger has not specified when sales through affected resellers and distributors may resume.
