John Boyega has shared a major personal revelation about his marriage and family. The English actor is known for playing Finn in J.J. Abrahams’ Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Speaking with The Guardian about the BBC’s Damilola Taylor documentary, Boyega was asked about the jewelry he was wearing during the interview. The 34-year-old revealed that it was his wedding ring and that he has been married for nearly two years. However, the Star Wars actor chose to keep his wife’s identity private.
“Oh yeah, this is my wedding ring,” he said. “I’ve been married for coming up to two years now.” The actor joked that he got married “the way Braveheart did,” keeping the ceremony small and intimate. Though he skipped a traditional Nigerian ceremony for now, he said the couple would love to celebrate in the future. “We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry.”

The interviewer also noticed that the ring Boyega wore during the discussion differed from the one seen in the documentary. When asked about it, the 34-year-old explained that this two-toned band carries special meaning. “This is our very sentimental ring,” he said.
Rather than purchasing an expensive designer ring beforehand, the couple picked one up spontaneously because the actor simply wanted to wear a ring. They went to Walmart to buy it, and he called it a lovely trip, giving a shout-out to the Walmart in Canoga Park. Although it wasn’t from a jeweler, Boyega’s comments suggest that he clearly values it.
In the same interview, Boyega revealed, “My baby’s on the way. We got a baby cooking,” the 34-year-old said. The English actor-producer also revealed that he has a young stepson and described his family life as completely fulfilling.
