Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte Passes Away at 34, View Statement

RJ Mitte has passed away. The 34-year-old actor was best known for his breakout role as Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad.

Mitte died in Brownsville, Texas, on Monday, Deadline reports. His representatives shared a statement confirming the actor’s passing but did not disclose an immediate cause of death. They also requested privacy for the family during this tragic time.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his representatives said in an official statement.

Mitte gained popularity for playing White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, throughout the AMC drama’s five-season run from 2008 to 2013. The 34-year-old lived with cerebral palsy, as did his character in the acclaimed TV show. The role helped him raise awareness about disability representation and inclusion in entertainment.

Mitte was among the cast that won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2014, after earning nominations in the category the previous two years.

Following his breakout role, Mitte appeared in multiple films and TV shows. He appeared as Mike, a high school student with cerebral palsy who pursues his ambition of becoming a wrestler in Triumph. His other film credits include House of Last Things, The Recall, Dixieland, The Oak Room, Rivers Run Red, and Westhampton. His most recent credit, per IMDb, is the indie film Talking to Strangers in 2026.

On the television side, Mitte’s credits included Switched at Birth, Now Apocalypse, and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!). He also voiced a role in HCBS Final Rule: The Animated Series.

Beyond acting, Mitte also did extensive charity work. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s and was president of The Mitte Foundation, which supports charitable efforts and community initiatives.

ComingSoon sends condolences to RJ Mitte’s friends and family at this time.
