Joan Laporta has hit out at Real Madrid yet again over the Negreira Case after Los Blancos compiled a dossier and sent it to UEFA.
The Barcelona president says Madrid have “relentlessly and consistently accused us” and added that their fierce rivals are “losing prestige, recognition, and credibility, both nationally and internationally.”
“Barça is in a sweet moment, enjoying the club and a very beautiful moment in our history, receiving praise from all sides, but from Madrid they are trying to downplay all of this. In the ‘Negreira case’ they tried to condemn us before we were even tried, and now that we are being tried, it has been shown that there is nothing to what they accused us of and that this will end with Barça’s acquittal,” he told reporters.
“They have relentlessly and consistently accused us, trying to discredit and damage Barça’s image, but they will have to back down, no matter how much they drag out the investigation to keep the flame alive. They are trying to discredit Barça, but I don’t think they are doing it innocently; rather, they want to harm football .”
“You go to any institution and they’re against everything. You go to UEFA and the Euroleague and they’re against everyone. It’s the attitude of a club that is losing prestige, recognition, and credibility, both nationally and internationally.”
Laporta also went a step further and spoke about a recent experience at an ECA Assembly meeting.
“They had no representation, displaying a very arrogant, overbearing, and haughty attitude,” he said. “They may know what they’re doing, but their lack of credibility is enormous. They are always creating obstacles and obstructing progress. They are completely out of place.”
