A new successor to Avatar: The Last Airbender may end up being even better than the critically acclaimed animated show and its sequel. Released earlier this week, Avatar: Seven Havens is the third animated series in the franchise that propels its overarching story forward. The series has debuted to rave reviews.
At present, Avatar: Seven Havens holds an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes with 16 reviews. The show’s critic score matches that of the original series and surpasses that of The Legend of Korra, which holds an 88% rating. Seven Havens currently has had three episodes released, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
How Seven Havens continues the Avatar franchise after The Legend of Korra
The story of Avatar: Seven Havens is set almost 225 years after the events of The Legend of Korra. It follows Pavi, a 9-year-old Earthbender who discovers that she is the new Avatar. The series follows Pavi and her twin sister Nisha on a journey to save Seven Havens. Along the way, Pavi and Nisha are hunted by both humans and spirits, who view the former as a destroyer.
Seven Havens is created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Its voice cast includes Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, Major Curda, Akshaye Khanna, Dee Bradley Baker, and more. It is produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
The Avatar franchise continues to expand with Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, a new animated spin-off. A third and final season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is also set to release in 2027.
Avatar: Seven Havens is available to stream on Paramount+. The show has already been renewed for three more seasons.
