Six months ago, I wrote on this site that I might be ready to break up with pour-over coffee after an eight-year relationship. But six months later, I’m still starting each and every day with pour over. One part of the problem is that I’m not sure which machine to get — I’ve had my eye on Fellow’s Aiden Precision coffee maker, which Kitchn editors used to find the best coffee beans, but it costs more than a month’s worth of groceries for two in New York City. The other part is that I don’t know where I’d put it, as my countertop space is already maxed out.
However, I found a deal that can solve both parts: The Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ is on sale at Amazon for just $99 right now, which is even cheaper than its most recent Prime Day price. The compact machine would fit right where my burr grinder currently lives and would speed up the process of getting caffeine into my system after waking up. (And really, isn’t that the goal?)
What Is the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+?
You’re probably familiar with Nespresso, whose pod-based machines revolutionized making espresso at home: just fill the water reservoir, pop in your pod, and push a button. So why go for the Vertuo Pop+ over the popular original?

“The biggest difference between Nespresso’s original machine and its Vertuo machine is the types of brews,” explained our former SEO writer Haley Lyndes. “Nespresso’s original machine only brews espresso using specific Nespresso capsules, while its Vertuo machine brews both espresso and regular coffee with Vertuo coffee capsules.” All Vertuo machines can brew five different beverage sizes, and the Pop+ — the most compact machine in the Vertuo line — does it without eating up your counter space. It even comes with a coffee sampler set, so you can try a few flavors before committing to a pod purchase.
What Amazon Customers Are Saying
Rating: 4.3/5 stars
“It’s a great little machine for single serve. I usually only have one cup of coffee or espresso in the morning and that’s why this machine was just right for me. I love how when you open up the mechanism to put a new pod in, it automatically pushes the used pod into a little container that you can empty once it’s full.” —Connie B.
“I have an incredibly tiny kitchen with almost non-existent counter space. I’m also very lazy about making coffee and don’t want to fuss too much with it… I ended up asking ChatGPT the best way to get espresso at home and it recommended Nespresso – and then I noticed the Vertuo Pop and felt like the smaller size might work on my counter. I can report after having and using it for a week, it’s PERFECT! I’m so happy they came out with a smaller machine- even the regular vertuo would have been too big for my space. The coffee is delicious, I like a strong coffee flavor and I’m able to get that.” —Kimberly
“Over the past 2 years I have bought 4 of these machines and gifted them to the coffee lovers in my life, 3 of whom are college students who find it the ultimate luxury to make their own coffee/espresso in their dorm room or apartment, and the other went to my mom, who, at 85, was ready for a pod experience. Everyone LOVES these workhorse espresso machines! Super easy to set up, super easy to clean because there is essentially no mess with these machines!” —K. Mac
