James Blunt‘s wife was convinced he had won The Celebrity Traitors.

James Blunt’s wife thought he had won Celebrity Traitors
The musician was among the famous faces competing in the all-star version of the hit BBC game show and he made it all the way to the final three before being banished by winners Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian ‘Bash’ Croft – and James has now revealed his partner Sofia Wellesley was totally convinced he’d won but the show’s strict rules meant he wasn’t allowed to tell her the truth so she didn’t find out what really happened until the final episode aired.
James told The Sun newspaper: “You’re not supposed to tell anyone anything. And I’ll tell you how good I was – my wife genuinely thought I’d won. I didn’t tell her the result. In fact, I told her nothing at all.
“Even as she was watching that final episode and everything was being revealed, she was blown away. I signed my NDA [non-disclosure agreement], and I stuck to my NDA!”
James went on to admit filming the show – which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman – was a tough experience.
He also revealed The Celebrity Traitors producers played The Hunger Games’ haunting song – The Hanging Tree with vocals by actress Jennifer Lawrence – before filming at the Round Table and he still struggles to listen to the track.
He explained: “It’s a marathon and at times, a terrible experience – but wonderful to finish. When they sat us down at the Round Table, viewers didn’t get to see that they played a song [The Hanging Tree] just to psych us out.
“Someone sent it to me afterwards and my wife said: ‘Wow, you’re quite traumatised by hearing that’. I actually started sweating and shaking.”
It comes after James dispelled rumours of a feud between him and his Celebrity Traitors co-star Romesh, who helped dump him from the show at the last minute, revealing the comedian even donated some money to the singer’s chosen charity, Blue Marine Foundation.
Speaking on Hits Radio, James said: “Romesh is a very very sweet human being, and I promise he and I get on very very well.”
Asked if Romesh donated any money to James’ preferred charity, the musician said: “He has done. I was going to save that for a conversation I was having with him, but you know, if you’re going to mention it, he absolutely has. It’s called the Blue Marine Foundation.”
Winners Romseh, 48, and Sebastian, 24, snagged the £83,000 prize pot and they previously declared they had agreed to split their winnings between Choose Love and the Refugee Council.
