Demi Moore Honors Zac Posen at the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards in a Custom GapStudio Dress Made From Blue Jeans

From hot-pink Matières Fécales ballgowns to iridescent Gucci dresses bursting with feathers and completely see-through chainmail Dolce & Gabbana slips, Demi Moore has never been afraid to take risks on the red carpet. So, when the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) hosted the 2026 Fashion Awards in New York City on Monday night (colloquially referred to as “the Oscars of American fashion”), it was no surprise to see Moore turning heads yet again.

With her look, the Oscar nominee took denim dressing to the next level, in a layered GapStudio dress designed by one of the night’s honorees: Zac Posen.

Since February 2024, Posen has acted as the creative director and executive vice president of Gap Inc., and the American brand for which he serves at the helm was recognized with the Innovation Award last night.

Posen’s experimental approach to the classic American brand was on full display when Moore arrived in a dress that looked like it was made out of nearly ten different pairs of blue jeans.

Composed of a dark-wash denim, the halter-style design featured a split-hem skirt that pooled on the ground, while the form-fitting bodice was made of stacks and stacks of material that emulated the waistbands of jeans. A line of buttons dotted the center, while up top, a final layer folded over to create a subtle sweetheart neckline.

For another denim touch, Moore carried a flap bag that even came equipped with a jean-fabric handle, designed by the brand’s executive director of accessories, Reed Krakoff. Finally, she completed the fit with tan suede pumps that peeked out from under the skirt of her dress, and a set of diamond earrings from Hassanzadeh.

Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of stars pull off denim-on-denim fits, but never with something quite like this.
