If familiarity breeds contempt, then Manchester City and Brighton will surely have a healthy dislike of each other this weekend.
The teams face off Saturday in the Premier League, but that match comes just three days after they met in the Carabao Cup.
Their cup match could have an influence over this game, or it could simply be another encounter to put behind them before this one starts.
We’ll find out for sure Saturday when the teams reconvene at Etihad Stadium for a crucial early-season clash.
City and Brighton enter the weekend in first and third place, respectively, and a victory for either side could have long-lasting effects on the Premier League title race.

Manchester City vs. Brighton prediction
This is a tough one to handicap as both teams have identical records over their last five Premier League games (four wins, one loss).
They are the two highest-scoring sides in the league, but that doesn’t always mean there will be a goal-fest when they face each other.
Depth-wise, the Citizens come out ahead with their star-studded squad, so they should get a slight edge in the second of back-to-back meetings in a short week.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Brighton
