About 70 representatives from foreign consulates in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region — including consuls general, directors and incoming consuls general — attended a tour of the Northern Metropolis on Wednesday to gain firsthand insight into the city’s flagship development project.

Organized by the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the visit took the foreign diplomats to the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park and the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Community Liaison Centre. The visit highlighted the mega project’s industrial positioning, functional zoning, construction milestones, cross-boundary connectivity with Shenzhen, and technology-driven approach to the development.

Cui Jianchun, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR, alongside Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki and HKSAR government officials, accompanied the delegation throughout the event.
